A Tullow Scholar’s Story
The opportunity presented by the Tullow Scholarship Scheme contributed without doubt to me getting promoted though I wasn’t expecting it. The Masters was completed in an English speaking environment. It gave me the necessary credentials especially coming from a culture where being highly certified matters a great deal in your professional ascension." - Mohamed Bowba
Ever since 2011, the Tullow scholarship scheme has helped nearly 40 scholars from French speaking Africa to follow graduate studies in prestigious schools and universities in Europe. Mauritanian and Ivoirian civil servants benefit from the support of both Tullow Oil and the British Council to strengthen their professional skills and knowledge of the oil and gas industry.
Mohamed Lemine Bowba is a geologist at the Ministry of Oil’s hydrocarbons department in Mauritania. Mr Bowba, a father of two, completed his Masters in Oil and Gas Management at Dundee University. Three months after his return to Mauritania, Mohamed Lemine Bowba was appointed technical advisor to the minister of oil.
