All of our passionate and dedicated teachers meet the highest international standards with formal qualifications and extensive experience in teaching English to adults.

Our minimum requirements for teachers are:

  • education to degree level or equivalent qualification
  • a certificate level qualification in teaching English as a foreign language such as Cambridge University CELTA or Trinity College London CertTESOL
  • at least two years’ teaching experience
  • high proficiency in the use of the English language.

Cheikh Ngom

I love teaching because it’s my main passion. Through teaching I have an excellent opportunity to learn and share my knowledge. I have been teaching English for more than 15 years now and at the British Council since 2014. 

Mareme Sarr

I love teaching, but don’t know why.

This is my 18th year in the teaching profession and I joined the British Council in March 2015.

Mbaye Diagne

I do love teaching because it is my life. It is a pleasure to  share knowledge. We always learn when we teach, which is marvellous.

I have been teaching for 34 years now and have been teaching in the British Council since 2015. 

Ousmane Sadio

Being a teacher of English is a passion for me, because I can help contribute to success and professional growth. Helping our students improve their English proficiency to work their way up the career ladder or succeed in their studies has always been a great pleasure. 

This is a challenging and stimulating job that gives me the opportunity to learn new things every day through my different classes and develop professionally.

I started my career as a teacher in 2003.

I have been teaching English for the past 35 years and have developed a positive passion for education. Teaching has allowed me to learn a lot from so many different people. I have been teaching at the British Council since 2014.
