British Council Senegal has been working with the Ministry of Education since 2006 to support school leaders, teachers and students through the Connecting Classrooms programme. Through a rich curriculum of professional development training for teachers, the construction of computer hubs, school partnerships with the UK, maths and digital festivals for students and a school leadership programme, we have helped hundreds of teachers and thousands of students to improve the quality of education in Senegal.
In 2014, the British Council and the Ministry of Education of Senegal set the foundation for a school leadership training programme with national scope. In the initial pilot phase, British Council master trainers worked with Ministry teacher trainers to give 200 new head teachers 21st century leadership and management skills ready for their careers in the education system.
“Connecting Classrooms” school leadership programme helped me move out of my comfort zone, take risks and go global” said Baidy Dia, School Leadership facilitator, Connecting Classrooms.
